VS |
Drew Dober 1-0-0, 21, 5’8”, 165 lbs Omaha, NE., Mid-America
Martial Arts, Aaron Cerrone
|
Round 1 Dober, full of energy, wildly attacked Blevins from all angles. Blevins was able to avoid most of the early onslaught. Dober attempted to throw a power round kick to Blevins’ head but Blevins avoided it causing Dober to spin completely around. As the round progressed, Dober started to settle down and they started to exchange shots. Dober still the aggressor and displaying greater speed took the edge in the round on all cards.
Round 2 Dober continued as the aggressor in the round. He threw several kicks to the head and body of Blevins but Blevins was able to catch or block a lot of them. As Dober continued his attack, Blevins would get him in a clinch and knee Dober to the body. Dober did not appear bothered by the knees. While he was taking Blevins’ knees, he threw four successful elbows to Blevins face and side of the head forcing Blevins to push him off. Dober continued his untiring attack until the end of the round earning him the edge on all cards.
Round 3 Dober continued with all of the energy he displayed in the first round. He attacked Blevins with every shot a power shot. Blevins was still able to block many of Dober’s shots but the shots that connected took their toll on Blevins. Blevins got Dober in another clinch and this round Blevins worked the elbows to Dober’s head and body while Dober worked the knees. Dober stepped backed and started a series of left/right combinations to the body that bent Blevins over and set him up for a short left hook to the chin. Blevins, exhausted, went down to his knees. He stayed down for the 8-count and then stood to finish the round with his hands up to block the final barrage from Dober. All judges scored the fight 30-27.

Paulson came at Nguyen with kicks and punches that backed Nguyen to the ropes. Paulson then landed a punch that nearly knocked Nguyen through the ropes. Nguyen answered back with a flurry of punches himself that stopped Paulson’s attack. Neither fighter was willing to give any ground until Paulson stepped back and landed a left round kick to the right side of Nguyen’s body. Nguyen went down to the ground forcing Referee Mike Storm to start an 8-count. Nguyen was up by the count of 9 but was unable to continue at 1:30 of the first round.

| VS |
Joe Wilk 5’9”, 170 lbs Manhatten, K.S.
|
Taking the bout on just 24 hours notice, Joe Wilk stepped in for an injured Jake Lindsey to battle Kuchlong Kuchlong in a Super Middleweight exhibition. The term "Exhibition" anything but described this bout as both fighters were intent on winning the bout in dramatic fashion. From the first bell each attempted to establish a strong ring presence, Kuchlong with strong kicks an Wilk with powerful, looping punches.
After three rounds of back and forth action the judges had a tough time choosing a winner.
Winner by Split Decision—Kuchlong Kuchlong

|
VS |
Jason Bodewitz 6-2-0, 26, 6’6”, 215 lbs Omaha, NE., Mick Doyle’s
Kickboxing & Fitness, Mick Doyle
|
Round 1 Both fighters appeared strong and confident as the fight began. Bodewitz’ main offense appeared to be a front leg kick. Handley would get Bodewitz against the ropes and they would begin exchanging knees to the body. Handley appeared to be stronger in the clinch and possibly had the slight advantage. Bodewitz was forced to push Handley away and begin again with the leg kicks. In a close round, two judges gave the edge to Bodewitz.
Round 2 Bodewitz settled down in this round and appeared content to throw a front leg kick followed by a repeat jab to the head and body of Handley. Handley would move in to press Bodewitz against the ropes but Bodewitz was able to turn him, push off and continue the kick/jab/jab combination throughout the round. All judges gave the edge to Bodewitz in the round.
Round 3 Bodewitz stayed with what was working for him. The kick/jab/jab combination took its toll on Handley. Handley looked tired and obviously reluctant to put weight on the front leg. He was unable to throw power punches at Bodewitz. Bodewitz was content to let time run out in the round. The judges scored the fight 30-27, 30-27 and 29-29.
Winner by Unanimous Decision—Jason Bodewitz

Performance, Kurt Podany
|
VS |
Aaron Hickey, 3-2-0 29, 5’11”, 185 lbs St. Paul, MN., Minnesota
Martial Arts Academy, Greg Nelson
|
Round 1 Hickey was the obvious aggressor in the round. He began every exchange with a kick to the leg or head of Melgoza. Melgoza was able to block many of the blows but was unable to mount an attack of his own. The end of the round took place in the center of the ring with the fighters in the clinch and Hickey throwing a series of knees at Melgoza. Melgoza was able to block many of the knees but the edge in the round was given to Hickey.
Round 2 The second round was much like the first with Hickey beginning the exchanges with a kick to the leg, body or head of Melgoza followed by a left hook to the head. When Melgoza was able to clinch, Hickey would knee him to the body. The edge again went to Hickey in the round.
Round 3 Melgoza tried to start the round by kicking Hickey’s body.
Hickey caught Melgoza’s leg and just missed Melgoza’s head with a right hook. Throughout the rest of the round, Hickey was content with kicking the lead leg of Melgoza making it difficult for Melgoza to throw kicks of his own. All judges scored the fight 30-27.

|
VS |
Steven Lovan 1-0-0, 20, 5’10”, 142 lbs Brooklyn Center, MN.,
Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, Nat McIntyre
|
Round 1 Lovan began the round by coming forward with a barrage of kicks and punches to Spainhower’s head and body. Spainhower was able to clinch and land knees to Lovan’s body to stall the attack. As the round moved ahead, Spainhower was able to move around the ring and counter Lovan’s attacks with well placed kicks to Lovan’s body which gave Spainhower the edge in the round on all cards.
Round 2 Spainhower took the role as the aggressor to begin the second round but Lovan countered well and was unhurt during the attack. They rolled around in the clinch and Lovan appeared to become stronger and more confident as the round came to a close earning him the edge on all cards.
Round 3 Spainhower appeared determined to be the aggressor to start the round but Lovan was unaffected as he landed several knees to Spainhower’s body and kicks and punches to his head. Spainhower still tried to be the aggressor by moving forward on Lovan. Lovan round kicked Spainhower in the head followed by several continuous right crosses to the head causing him to hold the ropes to keep from going down and forcing Referee Carl Duncan to step in and issue a standing 8-count. Spainhower moved to avoid any more damage during the remainder of the round. All judges scored the fight 29-27.

Efrain Nevarez 1-1-0, 22, 5’7”, 155 lbs Sioux Falls, S.D., Next Edge Academy, John Arends
|
VS |
Mark Tanglao 1-2-0, 26, 5’8”, 153 lbs Wayzata, MN., Minnesota
Martial Arts Academy, Nat McIntyre
|
Round 1 The fighters attacked each other from the start of the round. While in the clinch, Tanglao kneed Nevarez in the body while Nevarez punched Tanglao in the head. When they separated, Tanglao fought with kicks while Nevarez fought with punches. Nevarez caught a kick from Tanglao and delivered a series of powerful punches to Tanglao’s head and body that backed him against the ropes. Nevarez appeared to be his strongest as the round came to an end earning him the edge in the round on two of the judge’s cards.
Round 2 Each fighter tried to apply a similar strategy as in the first round. Tanglao was able to land stronger kicks to the leg of Nevarez. Tanglao kicked Nevarez’ leg out during the round and stalled Nevarez’ punching attack. It allowed Tanglao’s confidence to grow. It was a better round for Tanglao with him earning the edge on two of the judge’s cards.
Round 3 They both fought hard in the last round but neither was able to stop the other. Tanglao pressed the action in the round which probably earned him an edge as the aggressor. In a very close fight, all judges scored the last round for Tanglao. The judges scored the fight 30-27, 28-29 and 29-28.
Winner by Split Decision—Mark Tanglao

|
VS |
Jeremy Longwell 2-2-0, 23, 6’2”, 194.5 lbs Omaha, NE., Mick Doyle’s
Kickboxing & Fitness, Mick Doyle
|
Round 1 Much of the round was fought in a clinch. The fighters would exchange knees while pressing each other against the ropes. They continually turned each other with each taking their turns with their backs to the ropes. In a close round, the edge was given to Mitchell on the cards.
Round 2 Longwell appeared to be able to kick Mitchell’s leg and cause damage but he was unable to sustain the leg attack enough in the round. Mitchell would close on him and tie him against the ropes where Mitchell’s knees to the body appeared to give him the edge in the round.
Round 3 Longwell was able to work the leg kicks a little better in the last round. The leg kicks were only effective enough to keep Mitchell from closing in the clinch as often. Mitchell appeared to be tiring and only got the edge from two judges in the last round. The judges scored the fight 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28.

Martial Arts, Aaron Cerrone
|
VS |
Nick Anderson 1-2-0, 29, 5’9”, 147 lbs Minneapolis, MN., Minnesota
Martial Arts Academy, Nat McIntyre
|
Round 1 Each fighter threw a series of punches and kicks to try to establish dominance early in the round. They traded shots back and forth evenly throughout the first part of the round until Pentecost reached for a right hook and over-extended himself. Anderson countered with a well placed left hook to Pentecost’s body that backed Pentecost up. Anderson was able to clinch with Pentecost and deliver some strong knees to Pentecost’s body toward the end of the round which probably earned him the edge in the round on all cards.
Round 2 The second round was a little slower paced than the first. Pentecost, the shorter of the two fighters, appeared to bend over to make himself a smaller target. Anderson continued to throw kicks and punches many of which were blocked by Pentecost. Pentecost was unable to mount much of an offense in the round which gave Anderson the edge in the round on all cards.
Round 3 Pentecost came forward to open the round attempting to take control of the fight. Anderson was able to counter the attack and fight backing up. Anderson landed a solid left hook to the body of Pentecost that stopped him in his tracks. Anderson then began an attack of his own with punches and kicks that backed Pentecost into the ropes where Anderson got him in the clinch and landed several powerful knees to the body forcing Referee Mike Storm to step in and issue Pentecost a standing 8-count. Anderson tried to force a second 8-count but was unable too before time ran out. All judges scored the fight 30-26.

Yury Slonsky 5’9”, 135lbs Omaha, NE., Mid-America

Round 1 Both fighters meet in the middle of the ring with Slonsky immediately beginning the bout as the aggressor throwing combinations at Nugyen. Nugyen, appearing lighter on his feet, is able to move and remain away from most of the attack. Slonsky is able to land some shots and shows some control with the clinch. Nugyen continues to move and counterpunch landing some big shots. A close round with the edge going to Nugyen.
Round 2 Begins much the same as 1 with Slonsky constantly moving forward despite counter shot from Nugyen. Slonsky regularly establishes the clinch but unable to any serious damage. Round 3 Both fighters begin to slow from fatigue. Nugyen begins to become more offensive as Slonsky pushes to establish the clinch and land knees. Arts Academy, Nat McIntyre
|
VS |
Derek Brunn 0-1-0, 13, 5’5”, 104 lbs Council Bluffs, IA., Elite
Performance, Kurt Podany

Round 1 Nolan came forward at the opening bell and attacked Brunn with kicks and punches. Brunn countered with leg kicks but was unable to stop Nolan’s charge. Brunn found himself backpedaling throughout most of the round. Nolan’s fearless, “I can’t be stopped” attitude earned him the edge in the round on all cards
Round 2 The second round continued where the first round left off. Nolan charged at Brunn with a relentless attack that had Brunn rolling across the ropes and covering up. Referee Carl Duncan was forced to step in and issue Brunn a standing 8-count. When the fight resumed, Nolan charged ahead in an attempt to earn another 8-count but time ran out in the round before he could
Round 3 Brunn began the round with a round kick to Nolan’s head that appeared to take some of the energy out of Nolan. Brunn backed Nolan up for a short time until Nolan was able to recover and then began his surge forward again. A better round for Brunn but “too little too late”. The judges scored the fight 30-26, 30-26 and 29-27.
Winner by Unanimous Decision—Isaiah Nolan
His performance in the fight also earned Isaiah Nolan the trophy for the “Fighter of the Night” as voted on by the ringside officials.

Max Church 0-1-0, 18, 6’2”, 166 lbs Sioux Falls, S.D., Next Edge
Academy, John Arends
|
VS |
Steve Isvik 1-0-0, 35, 6’0”, 164 lbs New Brighton, MN., Minnesota
Martial Arts Academy, Nat McIntyre
|
Round 1 The fight started with Church landing leg kicks while Isvik responded with punches to the head and body of Church in an attempt from each fighter to take charge of the fight. The first half of the round was fairly even but toward the end of the round, Isvik would wait for Church to attack and then counter with powerful punches and kicks that backed Church up and stalled any attempt to take control. All judges gave the edge in the round to Isvik.
Round 2 Church began the round as the aggressor. Isvik would respond with his counter attacks to keep the round fairly even in the beginning. Isvik attempted a round kick to Church’s body but Church timed it well and landed a perfectly placed front kick (teep) to the off-balanced Isvik and put him down for a flash knockdown that caused excitement in the crowd but it scored no more than a single blow. It was a better round for Church since he was better able to keep ahead of Isvik’s counters. The edge went to Church on two of the judge’s cards.
Round 3 Church attempted to take control of the round by being the aggressor. He came at Isvik with flurries of punches but each time he did, Isvik was successful in wrapping Church up against the ropes and land a series of knees to Church’s body. Isvik’s ability to neutralize Church’s attacks with the clinch and strong knees to Church’s legs and body won him the edge in the round on all cards. The judges scored the fight 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.
